Early Intermediate – Building Game Sense

Alright, you’ve got the basics down—now it’s time to step it up! This stage is all about awareness, movement, and decision-making so you don’t just play—you play smart.

The Minimap: Your Best Friend

A lot of new players ignore the minimap… and that’s a huge mistake. It tells you where enemies are, where teammates are, and what’s happening on the map.

  • If you don’t see enemies, assume they are up to something (probably ganking you).
  • Glance at the minimap every few seconds—the more you check, the less you’ll get caught off guard. A crucial habit to build.
  • If an ally pings “Enemy Missing,” take it seriouslysomeone’s about to have a bad time (and hopefully, it’s not you).

Farming & Jungling – Don't Starve Yourself

  • Farming is how you get stronger—gold = better items = more damage = more wins.
  • If you're not the Jungler, don't waste time killing jungle creeps—that’s the Jungler’s job. Stealing their farm slows your own team down.
  • If you are the Jungler, farm efficiently, take objectives, and don’t just roam for kills—a fed Jungler is scary, but an underfarmed one is useless.

Moving Around the Map – Stop Staying in One Place

  • Rotation = Moving with purpose. If your lane is clear, go help another lane, secure objectives, or respond to threats.
  • Ganking = Surprise attack by several players. If an enemy is overextended, work with your team to catch them. Junglers & roamers, this is your job!

  • Don’t overextend: If enemies are missing, they might be coming for you. Pushing too far alone is an easy way to feed.

Using Skills Wisely

  • Don’t spam skills randomly—save them for when they actually matter. Don't use long cooldown skills on minions.

  • Battle spells (like Flicker or Purify) can save your life—don’t waste them!

  • Manage Mana (blue bar below HP) carefully if playing a mana-based hero—don't spam skills unnecessarily. If you waste all your mana, you’ll be useless when a fight actually happens.

Positioning – Knowing Where to Stand

  • Marksmen and Mages should stay behind Tanks and Fighters in team fights.

  • Tanks and Initiators (heroes with cc) should be in front to absorb damage and control fights.

  • Assassins and Fighters should flank enemies or find an opportunity to eliminate key targets—like enemy mage or marksman.

Common Positioning Mistakes to Avoid:

  • Standing too far forward as a squishy hero and getting caught.
  • Fighting in a bad position where you can't escape or where enemies have an advantage.
  • Ignoring the minimap and getting ambushed due to poor positioning.

Feeding – Please Don't!

Dying in this game matters a lot! Every time you die, the enemy gains gold and experience, making them stronger. If they get too fed, you’ll have a hard time winning.

If you lose a fight once or twice, don’t let your ego take over. Instead of rushing back for revenge, take a step back, farm, and wait for the right moment. Some heroes are stronger early on, while others shine later in the game. Patience wins games!

Watching Gameplays to Improve

A great way to learn MLBB is by watching experienced players. But at this stage, don’t focus on crazy pro plays or try to copy every flashy move you see. Instead, focus on understanding decision-making, positioning, and awareness—the fundamentals that truly make you better.

A great YouTuber to start with is Betosky. He doesn’t just show off mechanics; he explains how to play smart, how to position yourself, and how to make good decisions. Watching his videos can help you develop a strong foundation without overwhelming yourself.

Mistakes to Avoid (Yes, Again!)

Let’s remind you of some key mistakes so they really sink in:

  • Kills don’t win games—objectives do. Focus on pushing turrets and taking Lord/Turtle.

  • Check the minimap! The more you use it, the better you’ll play.

  • Don’t stay in one lane forever. Move around and help your team.

  • Stop using spells and skills carelessly. If you waste them, you won’t have them when you actually need them.

  • Overextending = Free kills for the enemy. Play smart, not reckless.

That’s it for this stage! You’re not a complete beginner anymore—now you’re learning how to think and play like a real MLBB player. Keep practicing these habits, and you’ll start seeing big improvements.
